PBL-Applicable Research Projects: Fostering Deep Learning, Literacy Development and Essential Critical and Creative Thinking Skills (2 hours)
Limited Capacity seats available

A highly scaffolded (but flexible) research project model, including a template and numerous samples and exemplars.

Agenda: The session will kick off with an overview of background pedagogy and evidence supported by action research (25 minutes). It will then break down the model in detail, using templates, samples and exemplars (50 minutes). The final section will look at learning area application, ranging from Upper Primary/Middle Years to IB Extended Essay connections (45-minute workshop format).

Supporting Teachers' Productive Beliefs and Practices for Working With Advanced Learners in IB TOK and AP Capstone

This workshop will engage in dialogue about the importance of considering both disciplinary differences as well as intersectionality when conducting research as rising scholars in the academy. For the purpose of this session, we will focus primarily on the individual experiences, trajectories, and focus of expertise, while holding each other accountable via peer mentorship. Participants will learn about the different features between fixed and growth mindsets, the necessity for meta-cognitive skills, characteristics of G/T learners, and instructional practices to support them in these specific research courses.
