Interdependence in Collaborative Learning
  • How often do you assign a group project or group work to students in your class?
  • How do you design interdependence in group learning?
  • Is there an assumption that students have collaborative skills and know how to learn from/with each other?
  • Is collaboration vital to the learning and to the success of the project/experience, or just a more interesting way to complete the project?
  • How do you [the educator] assess individual learner growth and achievement in a group project experience?

We will explore the dissection of collaborative learning and individual achievement to further understand practical approaches to identifying teacher needs in designing and assessing group projects/experiences.  Educators leave with practical approaches to supporting student learning and sanity in group/collaborative learning, and understand how to design interdependent group learning experiences that nurture and capture individual growth and progress.
