Coaching Conversations: How Middle Level Leaders Can Support Teacher Development (2 Hours) FILLING

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity filling up

In this session, participants will explore three key conversations to have with teachers to support their development: post-observation feedback, looking at student work together, and purposeful planning sessions.  For each conversation, participants will engage in the process, reflect on the rationale, features, and goals of these conversations and discuss how they can be implemented in their role.  The session will begin by introducing the three types of conversations that will be explored and the rationale behind them.  Then, participants will analyze the features of a post-observation feedback conversation and plan their own feedback conversation using a template after watching a clip of a lesson.  Next, participants will be introduced to the Critical Friends Protocol and participate in one; afterwards discussing the implications for their practice.  Next, participants will discuss the questions that guide purposeful planning sessions (What is the learning goal of the lesson?  How will students achieve this goal? How will you know if students have achieved the goal and to what extent?) Throughout the session, participants have opportunities to reflect on their learning and consider implications for their role.  The session wraps up with participants creating their own action plan which will detail which conversations that want to implement and with whom.
